Esker Lakes Provincial Park: August 1, 2025

  • by

I spent two summers working as Discovery Staff at this pretty park during my university years. It is located 40 minutes north east of Kirkland Lake in the boreal forest. It has rolling hills, sandy soils, and trout-filled lakes. Our visit coincided with the park’s annual Blueberry Festival complete with a blueberry pie eating contest. If you prefer to eat your blueberries slower, blueberries can be found everywhere.

Paul and Oliver

Paul and his dog Oliver live in Ottawa. Semi-retired from the military, he spends most of the summer at Esker Lakes Provincial Park pursuing his hobby of astronomy. Approximately a quarter of the park’s sites are seasonal, allowing you to set up and stay put all season.
