Pilgrims from the British Isles and other Northern European countries started their Caminos from the port cities of Ferrol and A Coruna. I started in Ferrol, a major base for the Spanish Navy. The route, 120 km in all, boasts beautiful farmland, rolling forested hills, historic villages, and many traditional horreos (granaries) and lavaderos (communal laundry fountains).
