The Long Trail Portraits; July 9, 2023

We were up with the sun and hiking by 7 am. Weather forecasts the day before leaving Jeffersonville told us to expect high volumes of rain starting later this day, and we wanted reach Corliss Camp, 15 km away. The route included three descents and two climbs totalling 600 metres. We rested every 30 minutes and ate lunch at the top of Laraway Mountain. It did rain heavily for a short stretch but let up before our destination.

Rob leaving to get water before the rains came.

Corliss Camp is a rustic cabin with four double bunks, a table between the bunks, a front porch. It has a second floor open loft area littered with bird droppings. A father and son duo from Massachusetts joined us shortly after our arrival and a we all had a great evening playing Farkle, a dice game.

The rain started by 7pm and never let up. We were dry and bug free. I didn’t take any new portraits this day.
