I met and photographed Beth at the eastern entrance to Short Hills Provincial Park. She lived close to the trail and has sectioned hiked the entire trail. The rain had stopped for the day, but had fallen heavily in the Niagara region through the month of April. As a result, the trail was slippery, and often flooded. The rivers flowing through the park were swollen, the falls impressive, and at least two of the footbridges crossing the rivers damaged. Beth turned back at the first footbridge, but I crossed it. I had to detour on the road because the bridge above Swayze Falls was closed with caution tape and the approach trail was washed out.
I had an Airbnb booked for the night in Vineland, but with very short notice, my booking was cancelled due to COVID 19. I ended up discreetly stealth camping on public land.
