Richard and Heather running the Bruce Trail near Eugenia Falls.

Richard and Heather are serious trail runners from Collingwood. I met them just north of Eugenia Falls as they were doing some warm weather hill training. Ron, my friend and shuttle driver, and I had met for lunch at a Bruce Trail road access. As we ate, Richard and Heather came running by. Ron called out to them. He knew Richard and Heather. It turns out, Ron also knew the next two people to come by on the trail.

Jamie stands close to the Eugenia Falls lookout, offering information to visitors.

Jamie works for the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority as an Information Officer at Eugenia Falls. He explained that COVID 19 travel limitations caused a dramatic increase in visitors to local trails and natural attractions. Ongoing repairs to the dam above the falls also increased water flow. His presence is there to inform people of the danger of crossing safety barriers.

May 30, 2022 was a good hiking day on the west side of Beaver Valley. Ron and I hiked together at the beginning, met for lunch at the John Muir monument, and hiked again at Webbwood Falls Nature Reserve.
