Camino Primitivo: April 20 – 22, 2026

Mark did get to a hospital eventually and was given stronger antihistamines and cortisone. His
daughter Charlotte, and emergency room nurse in Sudbury, ON, told him that when he gets
home, he should see his doctor for antibiotics as well.

Mark rested and I explored. He was good for slow afternoon walks or ambles for food but it
was back to bed after that. On the 21st, we walked to the Cathedral and the Museum of
Photography where we took in the Vivian Maier photography show. On the 22nd, we rode Tram 1
from the Ribiera District, along the Douro River, to the Foz do Douro beach. We arrived early
to successfully beat the tourist crowds. After a leisurely rest a a seaside cafe, we returned and
Mark slept the day away. I did a little gift shopping in the afternoon and we went for burgers
close to our apartment. Our stay in Porto and our grand adventure was about to
end.

Addendum: Mark did see a doctor when he got home, and yes, he has recovered fully.
