Mark woke up with a puffed up face. His nose, eyes, and cheeks are bright red and inflated.
He looks like a boxer after going the distance. And he is weak. He said he had something
similar 15 years ago. Antihistamines aren’t helping so we need to get him some medical
attention.
We decided to take a bus to the next city, Pontreveda, because there were no medical
services in Caldas de Reis. The same bus we were waiting for was also going to Vigo, a city
we had to reach eventually in order to catch a bus to Porto. So we decided to go to Vigo.
When we got to Vigo we asked if there was a bus today to Porto with seats available. 20
minutes later we were on our way to Porto. I figured let’s get all our travel out of the way so
Mark can recover and sleep.

I booked an apartment in Porto for the next three days. There is a hospital 3 minutes from the
apartment but we discovered they don’t have an emergency department. Tomorrow Mark will
get to a hospital 15 minutes away. I got some groceries and Mark is sleeping. Our Camino
walking is done for the year. 500 kms is enough for this season. Neither of us were really
enjoying walking the Portuguese backwards anyway, but all is good. Convalescing in Porto is
a much better idea.
