Bridal Veil Falls: July 9, 2025

  • by

Today George, Rob, and I relocated to Providence Bay Tent and Trailer, a short walk from the beach and town. From this new location we explored the Bridal Veil Falls and Kagawong RiverTrail in Kagawong. The falls had lots of visitors, but few seemed to walk the river trail. Too bad because much effort has gone into this unique 3 km trail. There are plaques explaining the aquatic life cycle of the fish that spawn here and many public installations of art blending into the landscape.

Rob is an old friend who suggested our trip to Manitoulin Island. We didn’t spend any time in an Ontario Provincial Park today, but our destinations prove that there are many important land forms and environments protected by other agencies.

A short drive west took us to Gore Bay for lunch and a 4 km return trek around the bay. The Noble Nature Trail to the Hindman Memorial is well worth walking.

Our last stop was the Michigiwadinong Cup and Saucer Trail in the Cup and Saucer Nature Preserve. Most hikers cover the 4km return Main Trail to the lookout but the South Loop (adding another 5km) is well worth walking. This trail highlights the beauty of the Niagara Escarpment in all her glory.
