I took an early bus from Tomar and transferred in Fatima. Most pilgrims from Portugal walk to Fatima so at least I can say I’ve passed through there. I did take a picture of a Fatima statue in a gift shop window at the Bus Station. From there the bus took me to Porto.
The bus took me to Campanha station, a place I was familiar with, so instead of taking the subway, I walked the 45 minutes to get to my apartment for the week. I was too early for check in so I stopped at Barton Lima Confectionaria a block away. I ordered tea and a pastry and Joao took my order.

Joao
It turns out that Joao doesn’t work at the confectionaria. He just likes to help out when he is there. His job is security at the local psychiatric hospital and he finds it stressful. He speaks good English and is very proud of Porto people. He believes they are very helpful by nature. The woman behind the counter just shrugged.
