Portraits & Stories From The Trail

I walk, make portraits of the people I meet, and write about my adventures.

Bruce Trail Portraits

I thruhiked the 900 km Bruce Trail from Queenston Heights to Tobermory, Ontario in May and June 2022. I met and photographed many interesting people along the way.

Pukaskwa National Park Coastal Trail Portraits

Meet my friends, The Summer School Brotherhood, as we hike the 120 km Pukaskwa Coastal Trail on the north shore of Lake Superior in July 2022.

Camino de Santiago Pilgrim Portraits

I walked the Camino Portuguese and the Camino Ingles to Santiago de Compostela in March and April 2023, 700 km in all. I made portraits of the pilgrims I met along the way.

Long Trail Portraits

The Summer School Brotherhood and I completed a 50 km section hike of the Long Trail, Vermont, USA in July 2023. I met and photographed some pretty interesting hikers.

Camino Del Norte Pilgrim Portraits

I walked the Camino Del Norte across the northern coast of Spain in April 2024. 830 kms from Irun on the border of France to Santiago de Compostela. The wonderful people I met along the way made the journey one to remember.

Algonquin Park Western Uplands Trail Portraits

I hiked Algonquin Park's Western Uplands Trail in July 2024. Due to a "weather bomb" warning, a counter clockwise thruhike was shortened to a linear hike from the HWY 60 trailhead to the Rain Lake Access road. I met few hikers on this brief but memorable hike.

Chemin Le Puy Pelerin Portraits

Chemin Le Puy is one of four main Camino routes in France leading to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. I walked 810 kms in April of 2025 through picturesque villages, ate excellent food, and made many new friends.

People in Parks 2025 Portraits

Every year Kelly and I spend time exploring Ontario's Provincial Parks. This year we visited 15 parks, camped 53 nights, and walked lots of campgrounds and trails. These are a few of the people I met along the way.

Camino San Salvador Portraits

There is an old saying: "He who goes to Santiago and not to El Salvador, honours the servant and forgets the Lord." Camino San Salvador starts in Leon, Spain, two thirds the way to Santiago on Camino Frances. Few take this 130 km detour to Oviedo to see its treasures, but it is so worth it. I walked it in March/April 2026.

Camino Primitivo Portraits

The Primitivo begins in Oviedo and winds its way west for 320 km through mountains to Lugo, and finally Santiago de Compostela. The Primitivo (Primitive Way) is said to be King Alphonso II's 9th century pilgrimage route to visit the newly discovered remains of Saint James. I walked it in April 2026.
